Spray Foam Insulation
Spray foam is the highest-performance insulation available in South Florida — an airtight, moisture-resistant seal that outperforms fiberglass on every metric that matters: R-value per inch, air sealing, structural reinforcement, and lifespan. Cardinal installs both closed-cell and open-cell foam across Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach.

Spray Foam Insulation for South Florida Properties
spray foam insulation is the workhorse of Florida attic retrofits. We will tell you plainly when it is the right specification and when a less expensive approach delivers the same outcome.
South Florida sits in South Florida, where the recommended attic target is R-38 to R-49. That number, along with where your ductwork runs and what condition the existing assembly is in, is what determines the right specification for your property.

Types and Methods
Closed-cell spray foam
The densest, highest-R-value insulation available — R-6.5 per inch. At 2 inches thick it qualifies as a Class II vapor retarder, blocking Florida humidity and moisture migration. It also increases wall and roof-deck racking strength by up to 250%, a real advantage in hurricane-zone construction.
Open-cell spray foam
Expands 100x on application, filling every cavity and crack for whole-home air sealing at a lower cost than closed-cell. It is breathable — letting moisture escape rather than trapping it — and excels at sound dampening, making it the choice for whole-attic coverage and interior walls.
Spray foam requires a clean, dry substrate. If we find roof leaks, water-damaged framing, or active mold, those get corrected first — foaming over moisture traps it permanently. We also verify ventilation paths are maintained or intentionally sealed per the engineered approach.
Benefits for South Florida Property Owners
- Airtight seal eliminates drafts and air leakage — fiberglass can't.
- Closed-cell doubles as a moisture barrier for Florida humidity.
- Adds structural strength to walls and roof decks.
- Lasts the life of the home — no settling, no sagging.
- Cuts cooling costs up to 40% in sealed South Florida attics.
Best Applications
- Roof decks and conditioned attics
- Coastal and waterfront walls needing a moisture barrier
- Whole-home retrofits seeking maximum air sealing
- Crawl spaces and rim joists
- New construction aiming for IECC compliance
How We Install It
- 1FLIR-scan the attic and walls to map existing leaks and voids
- 2Air-seal top plates, penetrations, and the attic hatch before foaming
- 3Mask and protect all surfaces — foam overspray is permanent
- 4Spray closed-cell to the roof deck or open-cell to the attic floor to specified depth
- 5Shave and trim overspray flush to framing for a clean, flat surface
- 6FLIR-scan again to verify the seal — you see the before-and-after in infrared
- 7Walk the finished job with you and document the thermal delta

Spray Foam Insulation FAQs
Most tri-city homes run $3,000–$9,500 depending on square footage, foam type, and scope. Closed-cell costs more per board foot but delivers higher R-value and a moisture barrier. Get an instant itemized quote by ZIP code.
Closed-cell (R-6.5/in) for moisture-heavy and structural applications — roof decks, crawl spaces, coastal walls. Open-cell (R-3.8/in) for expansive attic coverage and sound dampening where breathability matters. We spec both on most jobs.
Properly installed spray foam lasts the life of the home — 80+ years. It doesn't settle, sag, or degrade like fiberglass or cellulose. That's why we back it with a lifetime workmanship warranty.
