Blown-In Insulation in Lake Worth Beach, Florida
Blown-in insulation is the cost-effective way to top up attic R-value fast. Cardinal blows fiberglass or cellulose to a uniform depth across the attic floor, filling gaps and voids that batts leave behind. It's the right call when you need code-compliant R-value at the lowest installed cost.
Blown-In Insulation for Lake Worth Beach Properties
blown-in insulation is the workhorse of Florida attic retrofits. For Lake Worth Beach properties, this is frequently the right specification — but we will tell you plainly when it is not, and when a less expensive approach delivers the same outcome.
Lake Worth Beach sits in South Florida, where the recommended attic target is R-38 to R-49. That number, along with where your ductwork runs and what condition the existing assembly is in, is what determines the right specification for your property.

Types and Methods
Loose-fill fiberglass
Spun glass fibers, typically 30–50% recycled content, blown dry through a hose. It will not absorb water, holds its R-value in humid conditions, is naturally non-combustible and does not settle much beyond the first year. This is our default for most Florida attics.
Cellulose
Ground recycled paper treated with borate for fire and pest resistance. It has a higher density, which gives it slightly better resistance to air movement and better sound damping. Borate treatment also discourages roaches and silverfish. It does absorb moisture, so we only use it in attics with a sound roof and verified ventilation.
Dense-pack retrofit
For existing closed walls, we drill small access holes, pack the cavity to roughly 3.5 pounds per cubic foot so it cannot settle, then patch and finish. It is the only practical way to insulate a finished wall without opening it up.
Loose fill needs a dry attic. If we find roof leaks, blocked soffit vents, or bathroom fans dumping moist air into the attic, those get corrected first — burying a moisture problem under fresh insulation only hides it. We also never bury non-IC-rated recessed cans or gas flues.

How We Install It in Lake Worth Beach
- 1Measure existing depth and calculate the inches needed to reach the target R-value
- 2Air-seal top plates, can lights, chases and the attic hatch before any material goes down
- 3Install baffles at every soffit vent so the fill cannot block intake airflow
- 4Build dams around the hatch, recessed lighting and any heat-producing equipment
- 5Blow to depth in overlapping passes, working back toward the access point
- 6Set depth-verification rulers across the attic as documented proof of coverage
- 7Vacuum and clean the work path, then walk the finished job with you

Fiblass blown-in is moisture-resistant and won't settle as much — our default for South Florida attics. Cellulose is denser and more fire-resistant but can hold moisture. We recommend per home after a FLIR inspection.
Properly installed blown-in fiberglass lasts 80+ years with minimal settling. Cellulose can settle 20% over time and may need topping up. We over-spec depth to account for any settling.
